Kibera Film School featured on AFRICA RISING!

On Thursday, the film crew from Africa Rising visited the Kibera Film School to do a feature on the school. Africa Rising is a lifestyle show that is aired on Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) across Africa by M-Net on their new channel, Africa Magic Plus. Africa Rising airs from Monday to Friday at 9.00am with repeats at 6.00pm and has a reach of over six (6) million viewers; focusing on seven (7) Eastern African countries namely, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan and Ethiopia.
We are delighted that KIBERA FILM SCHOOL will be featured on Africa Rising! Watch for it!

Celebrating our new MAC BOOK PRO donated by APPLE!

Kibera Film School trainees celebrate our brand new, sleek, powerful, beautiful Mac Book PRO computer, donated by APPLE! We use MAC and Final Cut Pro to make all of our films. Now we will work even better and faster! Thanks to Alexandria Jackson, at the University of California Berkeley who visited us in July, for helping us make the connection. Thanks APPLE for a great product and a very useful and needed gift!

Kibera Film School WEEK 1

Week one was a tremendous success, despite the challenges of three days without electricity and water! Through spirited teamwork, the Kibera youth trainees supported and inspired each other.

Ian Mbugua, Kenyan actor and TV star joins KIBERA FILM SCHOOL!

Ian Mbugua, well known Kenyan actor, drama coach and TV personality joins the KIBERA FILM SCHOOL! Ian will be one of the actors in residence later this year giving acting lessons to all KIBERA FILM SCHOOL trainees.
Ian has been described as “The contentious, no nonsense tell it as it is theatre thespian Ian Mbugua!”, who will be a judge on the panel for the TV and Music talent search show Tusker Project Fame Season 3
